Visiting with Sharyn and Justin

Yeah!...we are going to go visit my friend Sharyn!!
But first there is a long drive from the tennis courts where I just met my foster folks to Sharyn's house. I love car rides.

Sometimes Susan stops the car and I have to wait for her...I am good at looking pretty in the car.

Sometime she is distracted by how pretty I am...today she noticed the little bit of white on my tail end.

Finally we got to Sharyn and Justin's house...I was a perfect girl when I met Justin for the first time...here I am showing him my best sit.

Then he gave me scritches behind my ears...my favorite!

Then I got some more scritches from Sharyn.

Afterwards I got a great big meal bone for the ride home. It was a good day.
(Stay tuned for the next installment of Mia's journey from kennel to foster home!)
Mia is still looking for a forever home. If you are interested in adopting Mia please email Susan at sarrobin@sbclgobal.net or call her at 773-512-1053. Thanks for passing along her story. Together we will find her a forever home!

Meeting the Fosters

I thought we should go back a bit and let everyone enjoy the details of how Mia found her wonderful foster parents...thanks to professional photographer Sheri Berliner (www.petraits.com) Laura and Mike received an email about Mia needing to find a foster home immediately, they responded right away and we set up a meet and greet. We met at a tennis court on a rainy Sunday, the first thing that Mia did was to begin to remove her clothing...while pretending to sniff around...coat...what coat?

Then she took a minute to snicker about her crafty coat removing skills...

The sniff and greet went really well when she met Laura and Mike.

The fact that Laura (who is a dog trainer) brings her own treat pouch was a plus!

Wow! That treat dispenser thing is attached to you!

I like you foster momma!

After some more fun on the tennis court, (including fencing with a loose dog in the park- I am happy to report Mia quickly decided not to continue that when we all suggested she knock it off) we thanked Laura and Mike and headed back to the car for the next part of our day.
Mia slept very well after that.
Stay tuned for our next installment - fun with Shayrn and Justin - and the last day of boarding.

Holding Pattern

Hello Everyone! Mia here hanging in my foster home - boy is it nice here! Plenty of comfy dog beds, good food, snacks, lots of walks and plenty of toys! Best of all my foster Mom and Dad really love me and they let me kiss and snuggle and sit in their lap whenever I want. And I am learning to be a very good dog. Only casualty has been my collar - but in my defense I was trying to get to the treats and found my collar instead....and my foster Mom got me a new collar right away. Thanks foster Mom!

Like I said - plenty of toys - well a lot of them belong to my foster sisters but they are good about sharing! Lucky me!

I do like to smooch!

The three M sisters.

And for the best news - these are my foster sisters, Mona on the left and Maggie in the middle - we are all getting along much better these days and we even play sometimes - until they get tired - I never get tired! I am very happy here! Thanks for checking in! Mia

Update: We are still looking for a forever home for Miss Mia, an all-adult household with no cats, maybe a dog friend, lots of structure and exercise. If you are interested in adopting Mia please email Susan at sarrobin@sbclgobal.net or call her at 773-512-1053.

We are also still collecting donations to pay for Mia's lengthy boarding stay. We owe about $1600 dollars now. You can donate using the button on the right.

Thanks everyone!

Bliss

From Mia's foster Mom - who calls her a 'very good girl':
"At the moment I am sitting at my laptop in my little office. Mia is lying in the striped bed next to me in "her" bedroom, snoring like a chainsaw. I attached some pics. One is "before" when she was playing with her bone and one is the "after" when she conked out. "
Life is good.

Mia zooms

Short video of Mia zooming around and having fun in Yvette's fully fenced yard.

Mia visits "Auntie" Yvette

After checking out of the boarding facility today, but before she went to her new foster home - Mia stopped by Yvette's house (or Dundee Boy's home, depends how you look at it). Above is a picture of Mia running around the totally fenced yard - she had a small episode of the zoomies, we hope to upload a video soon!

UPDATE: Mia is sleeping in a home (a very nice home with very, very nice people) tonight for the first time in two and a half months. God Bless everyone who helped her get this far. Pics will be posted tomorrow. Her roomie dogs are not thrilled with the addition and she was not nearly as polite as she should have been when she met them but everyone has their own space at her new "home" and I am sure she will sleep very well tonight.

We still need to find her a forever home - we have a few leads and are busy following up - if you are interested in adopting Miss Mia please email Susan at sarrobin@sbcglobal.net or call her at 773-512-1053.

Thanks everyone!

Hope

"Hope begins in the dark,
the stubborn hope that if you just show up
and try to do the right thing, the dawn will come.
You wait and watch and work, you don't give up."

Anne Lamott

Mia is foster-home bound tomorrow night - please keep fingers and toes and paws crossed that all goes well and she and the resident dogs decide to cohabitate peacefully. A special thanks to Laura and Mike for opening their home to our Miss Mia.
Check back tomorrow night for an update!

Sunset in the Forest

So where do you go when you're all dressed up in a pretty pink sweater? The Forest of course!

Stoppin' to get some lovin'.

Sun worshipping.

Ice skating! Mia likes to run on the ice.

Putting on the brakes! Cuz there was something that smelled really good in the grass.

Thanks for checking in on me!

Update: Mia has a foster home set up for this Friday - she still needs to meet her roommate dogs and we have to find a way to get her very large "Mia proof" crate from one end of the city to the other - truck anyone? But we are sure we will figure it out!

We are so thankful for all of the emails and phone calls and links and donations and offers to help - there are a lot of good people out there - thank you all from Mia and all of her friends.
I am sure Erica is very grateful to all of you.

We are still looking for a forever home for Mia - if you are interested please email Susan at sarrobin@sbcglobal.net or call her at 773-512-1053.

Happy, happy new year!

Pretty in Pink

Mia got a pretty pink sweater for Christmas.
Her sister Millie got one too.

Pretty in Pink Sisters.

Side view.

Back view. Cool skull and bones to offset the pretty pinkness.

Sleepy view. Mia thinks her pretty pink sweater is perfect for lounging.

It also goes well with her Mia tag.
Mia is still looking for a foster or a forever home. She has only 9 days until she must be out of her boarding facility where she has been since October. Might you be her forever person?
If you are intersted in adopting or fostering Mia please email Susan at sarrobin@sbcglobal.net or call her at 773-512-1053. Mia has until January 12 to find a place to sleep.
Pretty pink sweater is included!

Spiffin up at the Spa for the New Year

When we arrived at Soggy Paws in the South Loop, Mia wasn't too sure she was going to enjoy this experience - there were a few dogs barking and big tubs everywhere. But by the time Ellie (fantastic staffer) helped Mia and I get situated she was begining to relax.
First came a good smelling face wash with her own washcloth and then the shampoo, a whole bottle just for Mia. Mia thought the sudsy part was kind of fun
but the butt scritches were the best part.
After a few rinses, it was time for the towel dry and towel modeling...

Blue is definitely Mia's color - don't you think?

She could have been a silent film star.

The obligatory reindeer antlers were not her favorite part of the day.

But her new friend (Soggy Paws staffer) Ellie was definitely a favorite of Mia's.

Thanks Soggy Paws (Kevin and Ellie) for a great spa day for Mia, it was just the pampering she needed to ease the tension of the boarding life and just the boost she needed to get ready for her exciting new year.

Mia knows this year is going to be great - with only 11 days to go to find a new home (or foster home) before she has to leave the boarding facility, she knows her friends and fans are working tirelessly passing along her story, her flyer, her pictures and her website to find a place for her to safely land on January 12.
If you would like to donate to Mia's very hefty boarding fee please use the donate button on the right. If you would like more information about fostering or adopting Miss Mia please email Susan at sarrobin@sbcglobal.net.
If you could pass along Mia's plight to one more person she would greatly appreciate it!
